Areas of Focus

Grief is like living two lives. One is where you pretend that everything is alright, and the other is where your heart silently screams in pain.

I am a Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP). I provide a safe and supportive environment to process grief and loss. I consider my role as a grief therapist as a “compassionate companion,” a term coined by author, educator and grief counselor Dr. Alan Wolfelt. As a grief caregiver, I do not perceive the emotions of grief as inappropriate, but see them as a necessary and normal response to life losses. I recognize that supporting you in your need to mourn is not about assessing, analyzing, fixing or resolving your grief. Rather, is about the ability to be totally present with you, even being a “temporary guardian of your soul,” (Wolfelt). I work to normalize that everyone grieves in their own ways and in their own time. While the grieving process often involves complicated and difficult emotions, it does not need to be devoid of joy, humor, and contentment. I teach that self-care and social support are vital to the process and that a person can experience occasional feelings of happiness, yet still be mourning.

*What is capitalism fatigue? Working long hours with inadequate compensation (poor pay and healthcare), expectation to always do more, and little job security. It is when your worth is defined by your productivity. This fatigue leads to physical/emotional burnout and discontent and keeps us in a cycle of overworking with little opportunities for care and rest. My work centers around supporting you in the exhaustion you may feel and creating an understanding that it’s not you but rather - the system.
